About Shoko 2018 – Peace In The Hood
Are y’all ready for Shoko 2018 – Peace In The Hood?? Zimbabwe’s dopest festival of
urban culture is back, running from the 28th – 30th September 2018! This year our
theme is Peace in The Hood! We chose the theme because the annual Peace in the Hood
concert in Chitungwiza is the main event this year and has become the biggest attraction of
Shoko Festival with an attendance of over 5,000 happy people every year. We also chose
the theme Peace in The Hood because we feel now is a crucial time to get Zimbos together
to celebrate peace, unity, togetherness and doing that through Shoko Festival!
This year we want to make Shoko about showcasing the dope, the alternative and the
cutting edge in urban art. Shoko is a space for open minds and free spirits. We’re all about
growing urban culture and pushing the boundaries of free expression. With the beautiful
insanity of Moonchild Sanelly, the rising voice of Asaph and the challenging humour of
Farhan Esat, we think we’ve got the right headliners to make this happen!
We’ve come up with a programme that we hope will make you laugh, challenge you, make
you think.. and make you wanna dance till the early morning! From daring comedy to
musical mash-ups, from mind-blowing talks on tech to the amazing community pulse of
Peace in The Hood! We’ll also have the most important thing: great people and general
Shoko is set to re-imagine its format this year as we reveal a new programme structure that
makes Peace In The Hood the main event in Chitungwiza. The festival will be happening
this year at REPS Theatre and Harare City Library before moving to the main event at Unit
L Community Hall Grounds, Chitungwiza. So join us this year for great vibes, free
spirits and Peace In The Hood!
